Welcome to SDSF.ie

The Sleep Disorder Support Foundation (SDSF) is a national, non-political, non-profit making Voluntary Patient Support and Advocacy Group for those who suffer from a Sleep Disorder (and their families).

The SDSF was formed by, and is managed by people who suffer from a Sleep Disorder and are involved in the management of The Irish Sleep Apnoea Trust (ISAT). We aspire to provide accurate information, unbiased advice and advocacy through transparency and effective communication.

It is our aim to:

  • Increase public and professional understanding of the significance of the diagnosis and the correct treatment of all Sleep Disorders in terms of good health, safety and the economy.
  • Promote evidence-based best practice in the treatment of Sleep Disorders and advocate for the provision of suitable clinical services in all areas of Ireland.
  • Work with government agencies, professional bodies and industry to increase public awareness of the problems related to untreated Sleep Disorders.
  • Actively lobby for and support increased education about and scientific research into the diagnosis and treatment of Sleep Disorders.
  • Advocate public policy initiatives which promote education, awareness and effective treatment of Sleep Disorders.

Our Experience

Our experience comes from 16 years’ involvement with ISAT. Our Management Team all suffer from a Sleep Disorder and have the experience of dealing with this on a day to day basis. Over the course of the past few years, the number of enquiries relating to general Sleep Disorders has continued to rise, leading to the necessity to widen the scope of the services offered by ISAT. The SDSF will now adopt this role, and become owner of ISAT.

Our Value:

Our values come from helping others, through support, information and unbiased advice. We have been successful in providing this to Sleep Apnoea Sufferers over the last 16 years, and hope to provide similar services and value to those suffering from any Sleep Disorder.

Our Approach:

  • We believe that a simple approach is best.
  • We will provide support through email, our web site, telephone and Social Media.
  • We will provide regular updates through our Blog and other electronic methods.
  • We will strive to host monthly meetings (face to face) at various locations throughout the country.
